Parker, Idaho, is a small town in Fremont County. It was the first pioneer settlement in the county, and it currently has a population of around 300. Parker is residential in nature, with only a few businesses open in town. Most residents commute for work.
Parker sits only five miles from the St. Anthony Sands Dunes, a vast 10,600-acre expanse of white quartz sand. Many local residents and visitors come to this area for off-road vehicle riding, camping, hiking, and sandboarding. Some people also come to the sand dunes for photoshoots. In addition to recreation, the St. Anthony dunes are used for wilderness studies. It is home to the largest population of wintering elk in the state.
If you want to participate in some family fun, you can stop by Rexburg Rapids, which is located only 10 miles from Parker. This waterpark features a splash park, lazy river, splash climbing wall, lap pool, two water slides, and more. They also offer swimming lessons for children aged six months to 17 years old.
Another local attraction perfect for families is Yellowstone Bear World. This drive-thru wildlife park allows you to see Rocky Mountain elk, bison, white-tailed and mule deer, goats, American black bears, and grizzly bears up close. You can also visit the petting zoo, which features deer, goats, pigs, ducks, and geese, as well as take a ride on the amusement rides. Yellowstone Bear World is also home to bear cubs, and children aged five and older, and adults can bottle feed them during meal times.
