Roof Maintenance
Roof Maintenance
The roof is an extremely important part of your home. Maintenance is the key to the long-term performance of your roof. Roofing professionals typically all agree that a good roof requires proper design, quality materials, and proper installation in order to perform successfully.
Once your roof is installed...nothing is more critical to its long-term performance than establishing a program of regular inspections and proper maintenance.
There are some things that you can do on your own to help your roof stay in great shape and protect your home for a long time to come. Here are a few things to do.

Roof Maintenance Tips
Before attempting any of these roof maintenance tips, you may want to recruit someone to assist you. Using a ladder and getting up on a roof can be a dangerous thing to do alone. We also suggest that you only attempt to get on the roof when the weather is good and your roof is dry.
- Remove any loose debris. Pull out a ladder and climb up to look at your roof. You might be surprised at what you find up there. Branches, leaves, and any other loose debris should be removed.
- Do an inspection. There are signs you can look for that will tell you whether you have issues with your roof that need further maintenance. Take a quick look at your interior ceilings. If you see stains, that may tell you that water is seeping in. Now, look at your roof to see if any shingles are missing or damaged. Can you see any moss or mold? Do any other parts of the roof, or nails, etc, appear to be loose or out of place? If you have a yes answer then it might be time to call Premier Roofing & Restorations to have a more complete inspection done.
- Remove the moss and mold. You can get a roof moss remover and cleaner and spray it on the impacted areas of your roof. Do this according to instructions that come with the cleaner. Keep in mind that using something like a power washer can do some damage to your shingles.
-
Gutter Cleaning. Make sure to keep your gutters clean. You may find leaves and other debris clogging up your gutters. Clogged gutters can lead to water flowing into places that you don't want it to be. Be careful when dealing with gutters because leaning against them or pulling on them can damage gutters or even cause you to fall.
Roof Maintenance Checklist
Here is a basic regular roof maintenance checklist:
